- NASA/JSC has a requirement for an outfitted modular cleanroom, for analyzing Astro-material research samples for future NASA Missions to the Moon and Mars. NASA/JSC intends to purchase the items from Lasco Services. These analog samples are critical to defining Mission requirements; therefore, clean handling and minimizing contamination are crucial to Mission success as a whole. Because of the nature of these samples, there are additional material restrictions beyond simple cleanliness requirements. Increased sensitivity and lower detection limits of the research scientists? analytical instruments used to examine these Astro-material samples dictate a precise understanding of the background contaminants used in all materials of lab construction and cleanroom installation. Cleanroom Dimensions and Required Materials: Room #1: 14x8x8 Anteroom: 6x4x8 Lab Area: 14x8x8 Wall Modules: Trims are clear anodized Solid Panels are ?? aluminum Clear Panels are ?? clear acrylic Framing Tubes are Powder Coat White Ante Room walls and lab-side walls are clear. Other Walls are solid Aluminum Ceiling System: 2? T-Bolt Gasketed Ceiling Grid Ceiling Tiles are Vinyl Covered Ceiling Tiles Ceiling is supported from deck Doors: Strip curtain doorway entering change room Manual sliding door entering cleanroom Flooring: Seamless Flooring with Flash Coving Includes only minor floor prep to existing flooring. Includes lab area. Total floor space is 14? x 16? HEPA Filters: HEPA FFUS, 110 V with variable speed controls 23 5/8?? x 47 5/8?? x 12? Nominal dimensions Includes twist lock plug Filter efficiency is 99.9% at 0.3 micron Electrical: raceway and wiring for (6) duplex receptacles. raceway and wiring for FFUS, lights, and switches 2? x 4? Cleanroom lights, with universal ballast Provide (2) Nitrogen valve connections Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12 and the Simplified Acquisition Procedures set forth in FAR Part 13. The required services are available from only one responsible source, and no other services will satisfy agency requirements. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact (timothy.a.boyes@nasa.gov) no later than 4:30 p.m. local time on February 15, 2007. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government.
