- THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT, NOT A REQUEST FOR A PROPOSAL. A SOLICITATION DOCUMENT WILL NOT BE ISSUED AND PROPOSALS WILL NOT BE REQUESTED. The National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Office of Acquisitions (OA), intends to negotiate and award a purchase order on a noncompetitive sole source basis to Molecular Devices., 1311 Orleans Drive, Sunnyvale, CA 94089 The items to be purchase are: Item (1) 1-2300-1113, IXM Environment Control Option, quantity two (1) each. In vivo monitoring is an important aspect of the Viral Pathogens Section. This accessory will be used to add the ability to monitor viral infections in vivo in real time. The above item is for Imagexpress reader from Molecular Devices. The government?s estimated delivery is 15 days after receipt of order. The sole source determination is based on the Emerging Viral Pathogen Section (EVPS) has recently purchased a Imagexpress instrument for rapid acquisition and analysis of fluorescence images for high throughput cell-based screening. The optional Live Cell upgrades allow for 1) complete environment control (temp, CO2 and humidity) and 2) fully automated liquid handling enabling lone time course studies on live cells or kinetic analysis of rapid physiological events. Therefore, an award to any other source cannot be made which will result in a compatible product. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct future competitive procurement. The acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition, procedures, and is exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) is 334516 and the Standard Size is 500. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this requirement.
