- Description
- The US Government is seeking sources to provide ruggedized pneumatic tires for use on a towed howitzer. The tire must provide superior sidewall puncture resistance in rocky terrain. The tire shall be a tubeless, radial construction with a load carrying capacity to meet maximum vehicle load of 10000 lbs per axle (5000 lbs per tire) at speeds of 65 MPH. Mission profile for this application include over the road highway use, secondary roads and cross-country terrain. Cross country terrain includes level and hilly, rocky terrain. The tire must provide adequate traction, braking and wear in all conditions. The tire must comply with dimensional requirements for the size 245/70R19.5 in accordance with the Tire & Rim Association standards and meet FMVSS requirements for highway use. It is estimated that 500 to 1,000 of this tire will be required each year.
