- This ANNOUNCEMENT IS A PRE-SOLICITATION/ADVANCE NOTICE ONLY. The BAA and BAA attachments will be posted under the above solicitation number in early February 2007. The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), Directed Energy Directorate (DE) located at Kirtland AFB, New Mexico is interested in receiving proposals for innovative High Power Fiber Laser Development and Development of a Diode Pumped Alkali Laser. The purpose of this effort is to explore innovative techniques and approaches in four technical areas: a) Development of theoretical models necessary to enable development of advanced fiber laser systems, both pulsed and continuous wave fiber lasers; b) Experimental design and construction of a high power fiber laser array; c) Design of an experimental high power photonic crystal fiber amplifier and test system; and d) Development of models aimed at the AFRL hybrid diode pumped Alkali laser. DE anticipates a single contract award of a 12 month basic period of performance and a 12 month option period arising from proposals received in response to this BAA. Anticipated award date is April 2007. DE estimates that the total amount available for award of basic period of performance is $300K.
