Description
MULTI USE STROBE/FLASHLIGHT WITH INFARED CAPABILITIES REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) ONLY FOR PLANNING PURPOSES. THERE IS NO SOLICITATION DRAWING PACKAGE AVAILABLE. This is a request for information only as defined in FAR 15.201(e). The government does not presently intend to award a contract, but wants to obtain information on commercially available Survival Strobe/flashlight combinations. Responses to this notice are not offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. The Air Warfare Battlelab (AWB), Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho, is planning to conduct a study that will evaluate commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) products that could be used as-is or slightly modified to solve this problem: Large sized Survival Strobe lights which have no flashlight capabilities and increase durability. The following attributes are our requirements of the capability: 1. No larger than 4.5 x 2.2 x 1.1 in and weigh 4.0 oz or less without batteries 2. Be constructed of High impact material 3. Have a Light Output of 250,000 or greater, peak lumens per flash 4. Have a flash rate: 50 ? 10 per minute with Light Dispersion consisting of White - omnidirectional, IR - omnidirectional, Blue-unidirectional, Red-omnidirectional 5. Have pivoting head for multiple angle use 6. Have operating life of 8 hours minimum-strobe; 2 hours minimum-incandescent 7. Visibility: Military tested at a distance of 6 miles (9.6km) on a clear dark night 8. Waterproof: Factory tested to 10 meters (33 ft) 9. Run off 2 AA alkaline or lithium batteries (not included) 10. Be one of the following colors black, olive drab, or sand color 11. Eyelet for lanyard capabilities The AWB is seeking the following specific information from industry representatives: 1. The manufacturers suggested retail price for both individual item and large quantity discounts 2. Item specifications 3. Must be Commercial off the shelf item 4. Possible use of demo equipment, at no cost to Air Force 5. The name of distributors who could sell to the Government. 6. The degree to which the product can meet or exceed the above desirable and beneficial attributes of the USAF 7.
