Description
The FAA, Great Lakes Region, intends to enter into a single source procurement with Evans Consoles to modify/replace/re-configure the existing Evans consoles currently installed in the Air Traffic Control Tower at the O'Hare International Airport, Chicago, Illinois. The current cab layout will be reconfigured to accommodate additional consoles. The firm will be required to work in occupied space during low traffic hours of operation. The firm will be required to utilize the existing console system as much as possible to expedite the demolition and replacement process while eliminating the chances of accidental operation interruptions. Should a vendor believe they are capable of providing this requirement the following applies: The vendor will be tasked with utilizing as much of the existing console system as possible because this will allow for the majority of the power, control and grounding to be left untouched. Rewiring new circuits, rearranging duplex outlets or moving control wiring would increase the change of an accidental outage in a live operational environment. Any interruption to Air Traffic operation will cause economic hardship for the airlines and a major inconvenience to the flying public. The vendor must be familiar with the Evans Console system installed at O'Hare and must provide parts that are 100% compatible. The console replacement will occur in a live operational environment and must be completed within 3 months. The FAA cannot tolerate any unnecessary risk/accidental outage at this Airport. The timing of this project must align with an ongoing electronics equipment replacement project in order to commission the new north runway. Firms that believe they can meet all the requirements as stated above should contact the Contracting Officer.
