Description
General: The National Park Service, Department of Interior, is conducting a sources sought for the work described below. This notification is for market research purposes to identify potential contractors who have the skills, experience, and knowledge required to successfully complete this effort and does not constitute a commitment, implied or otherwise, that a procurement will be accomplished. This is not a request for proposal or invitation for bid. NPS would like interested parties to submit related project experience and resumes for key individuals to Rebecca Bizier at rebecca_bizier@nps.gov, or via fax to 303-987-6646 within 15 days of posting. Project Description: Sounds associated with aircraft overflights (air tours, general aircraft (GA) and military operations, and high altitude commercial jet aircraft (HA) are an important management concern at Grand Canyon National Park (GCNP). In 1987, the National Parks Overflight Act (P.L. 100-91) was passed requiring the National Park Service (NPS) and the Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to work together to achieve substantial restoration of the natural quite in GCNP. The goal of this project is to conduct acoustic sound monitoring, sound data collection, and analysis of natural sounds and human produce noise. This would entail an acoustic characterization of remote backcountry areas, two developed areas of the park, and several transitional areas of the south and north rim of GCNP. Work conducted will be sufficient to support noise modeling efforts related to aircraft overflights and river rafting activity; and provide analysis and documentation of sound data collected by and for the National Park Service at Grand Canyon National Park.
