SOLICITATION DOCUMENTS, INCLUDING DRAWINGS, WILL BE AVAILABLE ON THE FEDTEDS WEBSITE (www.fedteds.gov). This work will be for the removal and disposal of the behavioral guidance structure (BGS) and repair of the trash shear boom. The BGS located in the forebay of the dam is a large floating steel curtain about 1100 feet long that extends from 50 to 80 feet below the water surface and is anchored both to the shore and riverbed and to the upstream concrete face of the dam. The work will require the removal of the BGS including an anchor frame and plates, the BGS structure proper, anchor cables, guide cables, and positioning cables, winches, generator, buoys, clump weights, pontoons and shackle chains. Portions of the structure embed ded in bottom sediments may remain in place. The work will require disassembly, metal cutting and fragmentation to manageable sizes, lifting, moving, and removal for disposal or storage as indicated. Approximately 3,700,000 pounds of structural steel an d equipment was used for original construction of the BGS. Fragments or portions of the BGS designated for disposal can be taken to the north shore storage area and reduced to smaller sizes to facilitate transport off the project site. The trash shear boom is approximately 2500 feet long located in the forebay of the dam. Repairs will consist of replacing approximately 1500 feet of 2 wire rope; furnishing and installing a variety of connecting hardware consisting of chains, shackles, s ockets, and a variety of fabricated connecting hardware; and pressure treated 2x12 lumber bumpers. Fabricate and install a gap seal float. Float is 15 feet long consisting of two 20 diameter HDPE plastic pipes separated by a fabricated stainless steel f rame and screen. Frame has a weighted keel. Cylinders are filled with polystyrene to maintain buoyancy.. A considerable amount of underwater diving work will be required at depths up to 110 feet. Diving will be surface supplied air and recompression chambers are required.
