Description
Services of an Architectural or Engineering firm with specialized experience in design and construction of mechanical plumbing drain systems in a 24/7 healthcare and medical environment to participate in site investigation, design, preparation of working drawings/construction documents, and construction period services for Project 596-07-102, REPLACE DETERIORATED WASTE LINES, CDD, at VA Medical Center, Lexington, KY. Project involves replacement of deteriorated plumbing waste drain lines. Project is anticipated to be a combination of two design efforts: replace like-with-like in place, and replace existing with new followed by demolition of existing (abandoned) drain lines. Project design will clearly show work required, phasing and impact evaluation required for uninterrupted healthcare during course of construction. Instructions to be provided to construction contractor on how drain replacements are to be accomplished in a medical environment, taking into consideration demolition and infection control. Impact evaluation Estimated construction cost range is between $500,000 and $1,000,000. Project will be accomplished in AutoCad .dwg format; specifications will be accomplished in Microsoft Word .doc format. Area of consideration is restricted to firms located within a 100 miles radius of VAMC, Lexington, KY, and is open to both large and small business concerns, in accordance with the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program. North American Industry Classification (NAICS) No. 541330, with a size standard of $4.5 million is applicable. Interested firms, with required specialization, must submit three (3) copies of Standard Form 330, Architect-Engineer qualifications, to the issuing office no later than 2:00 p.m. EST October 24, 2006. (Fed-ex or hand-carried submissions to be delivered to VA Medical Center, Attn: Angie Napier (90C), Bldg. 2, Rm. 206, 2250 Leestown Road, Lexington, KY 40511). Respondents will be reviewed on the basis of: professional qualifications; specialized experience and technical competence in projects of similar type, including experience in energy conservation, pollution prevention, waste reduction, and use of recovered materials; capacity to accomplish the work in the required timeframe; past performance on contracts with Government agencies and private industry for projects of similar type; team proposed for this project; previous experience of proposed team; project control (design schedule control and quality assurance reviews of submission documents); and estimating effectiveness. .
