Description

The Bureau of Reclamation, Lower Colorado Region, Boulder City, Nevada, intends to modify an existing purchase order on a sole source basis for irrigation and farming services to Chairel Custom Haying, Blythe, CA. The proposed contractor possesses the following unique qualifications which are required for this acquisition: Contractor currently has a lease with California Fish and Game Department to farm 1019 acres on the property known as Palo Verde Ecological Reserve. Contractor is responsible for the irrigations schedule for the entire 1019 acres. Contractor currently employees a full time staff to provide irrigation to PVER. Integration and coordination of the irrigation requirements for both the active farm fields and restoration projects is critical. California Fish and Game is a willing partner, sharing the same goals and objectives as Reclamation in the continuing effort to create and restore native habitat. California Fish and Game has made the farm fields available for Reclamation's use under its obligation to restore habitat consistent with the Lower Colorado River Multi-Species Conservation Program (LCR MSCP). Contractor is the only farmer authorized by California Fish & Game to irrigate these fields. This procurement was awarded using Simplified Acquisition Procedures.
