- The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service intends to award a sole source purchase order for Dell Gold Technical Support for 260 Optiplex Desktops and 1322 Latitude Notebooks to Dell Federal Sales, 1 Dell Way, Round Rock, TX 78682. This equipment was originally purchased under a GSA competitive procurement from Dell. The support period for this purchase will be September 25, 2006 through September 24, 2008. The Dell Gold Technical Support (GTS) provides Industry-Certified Advanced Level Technicians dedicated to servicing Gold Technical Support accounts, speeding issue identification and resolution and, for more complex scenarios, enabling engineer-to engineer communication between APHIS experts and Dell; Remote Support Capability ? enables a GTS remote troubleshooting technician to directly access and analyze the customer?s system via a secure internet connection. No end user technical skills are required for this effective, personal service that doesn?t require an in-person visit; Technical Account Manager ? For complex issues, Gold Technical Support services include the option to engage a Technical Account Manager, a MCSE certified Dell engineer responsive to APHIS? unique IT needs and able to guide APHIS IT through any escalation; Reports and Updates ? GTS customers may receive Quarterly Service Performance Reports detailing GTS usage, escalation history and service trends, facilitating a well-informed decision making process. Change Notification Updates on BIOS, drivers and software that may affect hardware are delivered monthly as well.; Collaborative Support ? GTS covers installed operating systems and when necessary, aids in resolving third-party issues with vendors by engaging them with you, helping to secure immediate resolution or following up on resolution plans.; Online Training ? GTS includes 90-day access to several online training courses covering Microsoft Windows XPX and Microsoft Office Productivity, the Internet, networking, security, digital media and much more. No other third party technical support will be accepted. If the Gold Technical Support is not provided by DELL, the warranty on these machines will be void. The North American Industry Classification System Code is 334111 and the business size standard is 1000 employees. This acquisition will be processed under FAR Part 12 - Acquisition for Commercial Items and will be made pursuant to the authority in FAR 13.5 to use simplified procedures for commercial acquisitions. If any interested party believes it can perform this requirement, they may submit a statement of capabilities. The statement of capabilities and any other furnished information must be in writing and must contain material in sufficient detail to allow APHIS determine if the party can perform this requirement. An original and one copy of the capability statement must be received in the contracting office by 1:00 pm EDT, on September 25, 2006. Faxed and emailed capability statements are NOT authorized. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. In order to receive an award contractors must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) www.ccr.gov.
