Description
The United States Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM), Infantry Weapons Systems, Quantico, Virginia is currently seeking Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) bore scope device systems. This is a combined synopsis/solicitation to be awarded under FAR Part 17 to one or more contractors as a Firm Fixed Price contract that will include an initial quantity of 1 (one) bore scope with an optional purchase of approximately 130 bore scopes after the Article Testing by the Marine Corps has been accomplished. This optional purchase may be exercised with only one of the multiple contractors. CAPABILITY DISCUSSION: The bore scope device shall enable the Ordnance Repair Marine to accurately and effectively view the bore of a cannon and capture images- to ensure we are getting maximum service life out of their weapons systems. SYSTEM ATTRIBUTES: The attributes that follow describe the specific characteristics that are required to provide the desired capability. SYSTEM PORTABILITY AND PACKAGING: All packaging will be in accordance with MIL-STD-2073-1, DoD Standard Practice for Military Packaging. The bore scope device shall require no more then a one man lift, be lightweight and packaged as small as possible. Shall be packaged in a way to enable the equipment to be dropped from a height of 30 inches, while packaged and still maintain serviceability. INTEROPERABILITY: The Bore scope shall have replaceable batteries, the ability to use 24V DC using a vehicle slave receptacle and 120-volt AC. Shall be able to scope calibers from 12mm ? 155mm using a centering devise specifically for each weapon systems currently fielding. Must have the capability to adjust the light source intensity and focus on areas of concern, without removing the scope from the cannon tube. Information captured shall be downloadable to CD, or other storage devises and is Oracle based. Operating temperature range: -30c to +70c. The required production quantity of these systems will be approximately 130. Article Testing will be required. Per formance period for initial Article Testing: delivery 15 days from contract award. Performance period for exercised option: approximately 18 months from contract award. This synopsis/solicitation will close on 28 September 2006 at 1200 pm.
