Description
The following information relays questions and answers concerning this solicitation to all interested bidders. This announcement constitutes as an amendment to the combined synopsis/solicitation # Q1573067057. The response date is now extended to 2:00pm Mountain Standard Time, Monday, September 11, 2006. Question: Does the chassis GVWR need to be below 26500 lbs for CDL concerns, because the log loader with a 28' reach will probably weigh 7000 to 8000 lbs so you'll need a chassis with a FAWR of 12,000 - 14,000 lbs to support the weight of the loader so that will put you into a truck with at least a 33,000 lbs GVWR. Answer: No, there are no CDL concerns. A larger chassis is fine. Question: What size grapple do you want ?, 1/3, or ? cord. Answer: We are not familiar with these units of measure. We would like a grapple that can grasp a 40" diameter log. Question: Also it states you want to pick - up chips do you want a chip attachment? Answer: No, we want a removable top for the bed such that chips can be blown into the back of it by a towed wood chipper. Question: I've attached a photo of a log loader that folds into its cradle over the cab, is this what you have in mind? The reason for this is the length of the boom because it would be to long to rest in the 12' dump bed. Answer: We do not want a boom that will rest in the bed. We prefer a boom that folds horizontally behind the cab, however we will take a model arranged with the boom over the cab as depicted. We want to be very clear that we are not looking for a logging truck. Question: How high of a removable chip cap would you want on the dump body? Answer: 5-6 feet is customary. Question: The bid mentions at least three storage compartments do you know what size they'll need to be, mounting locations, aluminum or steel construction of the boxes? Answer: Either steel or aluminum is fine. We prefer one horizontal compartment to be 48" x 16 x 16 to hold chainsaws. The others can be any dimension so long as the hold 3 cubic feet of volume. Question: In the RFQ it never specifies hydraulic out and down outriggers. Are hydraulic outriggers required? Answer: They are. Question: Do you require cranes with a remote control option or one with top seat controls? Answer: Either will work, but our preference is top seat for safety through increased visibility. Question: The cab and chassis will a quote be acceptable on a F 750 with a 10,000 front axle, or is it necessary to get into a International or Sterling Answer: An F-750 is fine.
