Description
The VA Hospital is seeking qualified contractors to provide and install a new condensing unit (qty. 1) for the Animal Research Facility. The existing unit is a split system with 2 condensing units that are integral to the existing air handling unit and its operation. This unit is an HCFC-22 system utilizing Oil-22 for the refrigerant circuits. Contractors must integrate the new condensing unit into the existing Trane system as to not interrupt the operation of the system. Animal Research Condensing Unit Replacement Specifications: Removal and disposal of refrigerant and oil using EPA certified technicians and equipment. Removal and disposal of existing condensing unit. Provide all rigging services for installation. New unit shall conform to existing platform Provide qty. 1 new 30 ton condensing unit (reuse existing disconnect) to include: New unit shall have hot gas bypass capability. Tag Data - Air-Cooled Condensing Units (Commercial) (Qty: 1) Item Tag(s) Qty Description Model Number A1 CU-30T 1 30 Ton Air-Cooled Condensing Unit RAUCC30EB Product Data - Air-Cooled Condensing Units (Commercial) Item: A1 Qty: 1 Tag(s): CU-30T 30 Ton Unit 200 Volt 60 Hertz 3 Phase Low ambient damper(s) control UL/ CSA approval Suction service valve Re-pipe unit, reconnect electrical, leak check, evacuate and charge unit with recovered refrigerant. Provide startup services with first year parts and labor warranty. Control Wiring 1) Existing control wiring unit has 120 volt. Any changes or upgrades is the contractors responsibility. General All condensing units are factory assembled and wired. Unit frames are constructed of 14 gauge welded galvanized steel with 14 and 16 gauge galvanized steel panels and access doors. The unit surface is phosphatized and finished with an air-dry paint to withstand 672 hours of continuous salt spray solution in accordance with ASTM B117. Decorative louvered panels provide condenser coil protection. Compressors Trane 3-D Scroll compressors have simple mechanical design with only three (3) major moving parts. Scroll type compression provides inherently low vibration. 3-D compressors provide a completely enclosed compression chamber with no leakage paths. The compressor is suction gas cooled, direct drive, 3600 RPM hermetic motors. The Scroll compressor includes a centrifugal oil pump, oil level sight glass, and an oil charging valve. Refrigerant Management Split systems can have significantly more refrigerant than packaged systems and thus require controls to reliably manage this excess refrigerant. Each compressor shall have crankcase heaters installed, properly sized to minimize the amount of liquid refrigerant present in the oil sump during off cycles. Additionally, the condensing unit shall have controls to initiate a refrigerant pump down cycle at system shut down on each refrigerant circuit. To be operational, the refrigerant pump down cycle requires a field-installed isolation solenoid valve on the liquid line near the evaporator. Unit Control Factory provided 115-volt control circuit includes fusing and control power transformer. The unit is wired with magnetic contactors for compressor and condenser motors, three-leg solid-state compressor overload protection, and high/low pressure cutouts. Charge isolation, reset relay and anti-recycle compressor timer is provided. Across-the-line start is standard. Single Circuited, Aluminum Fin Condenser Coils for 20-30 Ton Units Condenser coils are single circuit having configured aluminum fins mechanically bonded to copper tubing with an integrated subcooler. The coils are burst tested and leak tested underwater at 450 psig (3102.8 kPa). Factory installed liquid line service valves are standard. Condenser Fans Condenser fans are direct driven with motors having thermal overload protection and permanently lubricated ball bearings. Single Refrigerant Circuit w/Two Capacity Steps for 20-30 Ton Units Each unit has a single refrigerant circuit with two (2) compressors manifolded together utilizing a passive oil system. Each unit has two capacity stages. Capacity modulation is accomplished by turning compressors on and off. Low Ambient Control Low ambient option extends unit operation from 40 F to 0 F [4.5 to -17.8 C] by utilizing an external damper assembly for head pressure control. Suction Service Valve on Packed Stock Units This unit includes a refrigerant shut off valve to isolate the compressor for servicing.
