Description
The intent of this notice is to inform the contracting community that FHWA-CFLHD will hold a pre-show meeting for UT PFH 39-1(2), Sevenmile-Gooseberry Road, on Tuesday, October 3, 2006. Representatives from FHWA-CFLHD will be on hand to drive through the project and stop at various points along the way. Plans and specifications will be available for contractors to review during the pre-show. Contractors interested in attending the pre-show should meet at the parking area just south of the Sevenmile Gooseberry Road and I-70 interchange (exit 61, 7 miles east of Salina) at 9 a.m. NOTE: Contractors interested in attending the pre-show meeting, should call Brenda McGehee at 720-963-3353 or DD Daly at 720-963-3351 to sign-up by close of business on September 28, 2006. Failure to sign-up, may result in a shortage of plans and specifications available for review. Utah Forest Highway 39 begins at the intersection of FH 42, Fremont River Road and FH 13, Fish Lake Road and proceeds northward for 47.5 kilometers along Sevenmile Creek and Gooseberry Creek to its junction with Interstate 70. The junction is approximately 11.3 kilometers east of Salina, UT. The Phase II portion of the route includes two realignment segments, known as the Switchbacks and Salina Reservoir. The proposed reconstruction efforts will improve the alignment, grade, and width. The project includes grading, drainage, and base on 7.804 kilometers of roadway and 15.22 kilometers of chip sealing (see area map). Principal work items (quantities approximate) include: lump sum contractor testing; 30.0 ha of clearing and grubbing; 329,000 m3 of roadway excavation; 10,500 m3 of subexcavation; 28,000 m3 of select borrow; 59,000 m3 of waste; 31,200 m2 of earthwork geotextile (various type); 5,800 m3 of permeable backfill; 3,164 m3 of placed riprap (various class); 4,520 m of riprap ditch (various type); 26,000 tons of aggregate base grading D; 2,500 m3 of subbase, grading a; 4,500 tons surface treatment aggregates (various gradation); 560 tons of emulsified asphalt grade HFMS-2P or HFRS-2P; 972 m of pipe culvert (various size); 2,580 m of underdrain system (cut and fill) 1,700 m of horizontal drainage pipe system; 6 each of cattle guard; 42,000 m3 of placing conserved topsoil; 3,350 hours of traffic control; 825 m of temporary concrete barriers; along with associated surveys, heavy equipment, seeding and mulching. A portion of the materials for Item 301, Aggregate Base Grading D, must be obtained from the Government-owned aggregate stockpiles located at the north end of the route near the I-70 corridor (1/2 mile west of Sevenmile Gooseberry Road). At the contractor?s option, a materials source is available off of Gates Lake Road. The material may be used to produce the following construction materials: select borrow, riprap, rock for rockery wall, and aggregate base. Applicable permits for this project are US Forest Service Burn Permit (contractor obtained), US Forest Service Special Use Permit for the Gates Lake Material Source Site (contractor obtained), US Army Corps of Engineers 401/404 Permit, and Utah Pollution and Discharge Elimination System (UPDES) Permit.
