- NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD SOLE SOURCE. Arnold Engineering Development Center (AEDC), Arnold AFB TN, intends to award a sole source contract to Princeton Instruments, 3660 Quakerbridge Road, Trenton, NJ 08619 for one (1) TMDE, CCD Camera for CARS System: Scientific-grade CCD digital camera with a 2048 by 2048 pixel array composed of 13.5 micron square pixels for an overall imaged area of 27.6 mm by 27.6 mm. The CCD array will be back-illuminated for enhanced light sensitivity. The CCD array will be mounted in a permanent vacuum chamber so that the array can be cooled down to at least -70 degrees Celsius using an on-board thermoelectric cooler. The camera will be equipped for water cooling the high temperature side of the thermoelectric cooler. A separate water-to-air heat exchanger and pump will be supplied with the camera to cool the closed loop water system. The camera will have an integral mechanical shutter. The camera will be equipped to allow mounting to either a McPherson spectrograph or to a Nikon camera lens. The camera will have at least two software-selectable amplifiers and will have at least two software-selectable analog to digital converters: one with a 100 kilohertz readout rate and one with a 2 megahertz readout rate. Both converters will have a 16 bit dynamic range. The camera will be computer operated via a USB cable. The camera will be supplied with software that will allow its operation using Windows. The camera will also be supplied with software that will allow its operation using the third-party LabVIEW software. Estimated delivery time will be 30 days after contract award. This synopsis is approved for a sole source contract action as authorized in FAR 6.302-1 (supplies or services are considered to be available from only one source). No solicitation package will be issued. However, all interested sources may identify their interest but must provide proof of capability to provide an acceptable product by submitting pricing data, an accurate description of the equipment offered, and make and model numbers of the equipment. Only responses containing this data will be considered for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Award will not be made on the basis of responses received to this synopsis. If no favorable responses are received by close of business (4:00 PM CST) 18 September 2006, a contract will be negotiated with the above named source.
