- NAICS Code: 541710 The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) intends to negotiate a sole source purchase order under Simplified Acquisition Procedures to Affymetrix Incorporated, 3420 Central Expressway, Santa Clara, CA 95051 for the acquisition of gene expression chips for use on an Affymetrix suite of chip reading and processing instrumentation. The only gene chips that will work with this instrumentation are those made by Affymetrix. The EPA has identified Affymetrix Incorporated as the only vendor capable of satisfying this requirement. In order to ensure data compatibility and accuracy, the circumstance permitting "Other than full and open competition" is FAR 13.106-1 (b) only one source reasonably available. The intent of this notice is to determine if any other source(s) exist; and therefore, no solicitation (RFQ) is available. Consequently, any response failing to provide the aforementioned data and instead choosing to merely submit a routine letter requesting a copy of the RFQ will be ignored. The information received in response to this notice will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement. Interested parties who can meet the above requirements may submit written qualification statements, fully explaining their capability no later than 10 days after the date of this publication.
