- THIS IS AN ANNOUNCEMENT ONLY FOR PURPOSES OF NOTIFYING INDUSTRY OF ARMY CONTRACTING AGENCY, SOUTHERN REGION CONTRACTING CENTER EASTS (ACA-SRCC-E) INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE SOURCE BRIDGE CONTRACT TO CRAWFORD COMMUNICATIONS, INC. TO PERFORM SATELLITE COM MUNICATIONS SERVICES IN SUPPORT OF THIRD ARMY, US ARMY FORCES CENTRAL COMMAND (ARCENT). THERE IS NO SOLICITATION AVAILABLE AND REQUESTS FOR A SOLICITATION WILL NOT RECEIVE A RESPONSE. The Southern Region Contracting Center-East, Fort McPherson, Georgia will award a contract to Crawford Communications, Inc. on a sole source basis for a six-month period beginning October 16, 2006 through April 15, 2007, with an optional 6 month period. The bridge contract will provide a satellite communication system ser vice called Digital Video and Imagery Distribution System (DVIDS). The Digital Video and and Imagery Distribution System Hub is designed to offer transport broadcast-quality video, 2-way data, stories, stills and other video and data, from various DVIDS T ransmitters within Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, and Afghanistan back to a local commercial satellite hub and distribution center in Atlanta. The DVIDS Hub is the centerpiece of the Digital Video and Imagery Distribution System (DVIDS). The Hub shall support Oper ations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom by providing the capability to transmit, distribute and market visual information (Public Affairs, AFRTS and Joint Combat Camera) products to US and international media outlets in support of the Central Command Commander's communications objectives. Services include commercial satellite usage (uplink and downlink 24 hours/7 days a week), content storage, facilities, labor, web development and management, marketing, and robust internet distribution. Crawford Communications , Inc. is the present incumbent contractor that is in position to continue services without interruption. The six-month bridge contract will allow this office time to procure a competitive long term solution to obtaining the vital satellite communications services. The North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 517510, small business size standard is $13.5 Million.
