- Description
- This amendment is to add information specific to the design of the trailer and to change the response date from 8-9-06 to 8-14-06. The ARTS Trailer measures 341 "L x 103"W x 57"H and has a gross vehicle weight rating of 14,000 pounds. 2. The ARTS Trailer is approved for air transport aboard USAF C-130, C141, C-17, and C-5 aircraft with the following provisions: a. The trailer shall be restrained following standard procedures and using certified provisions to meet minimum restraint requirements of 3.0G fwd, 2.0G vertically, and 1.5G aft/laterally. The shipper shall certify that any stowed, attached, or loose equipment carried with the trailer is capable of meeting these same restraint requirements in addition to a potential 4.5G download. Manufacturer ratings for tie down points are 10,000 pounds. b. Approach shoring will be necessary to negotiate a 1 a-degree approach angle. Amount of shoring will vary per aircraft type. (See attachment-1 for typical shoring requirement) Shipper should be prepared to bring additional wood planking to adjust angle if aircraft loadmaster deems it necessary. c. C-130 aircraft: axle weights will be combined due to spacing and shall not exceed a total weight of 13,000 pounds. Combined axle weight less than 6000 pounds may be loaded between FS 262 and FS 737. For axle weighs between 6,001 and 13,000 pounds, axles must be loaded between FS 337 and FS 682 for flight. C-141 aircraft: combined axle weighs between 10,000 and 20,000 pounds shall be positioned between FS 678 and FS 998 for flight. d. If the gross vehicle weight exceeds 80% of the rated value or 11,200 pounds, sleeper shoring is required. The shoring shall be place as close to the axle as possible between the aircraft floor and within one inch of the trailer frame. Minimum size of shoring will be 14"L x 14"W at the base. e. Do not use tongue jack to solely support trailer in flight. Support the trailer tongue with a stack of sleeper shoring if the trailer is detached from the prime mover for flight. Minimum size of shoring will be 12"L x 12"W at the base. Shipper is responsible for providing al/ required shoring. Cargo loaded on the trailer bed for airlift should be positioned such that the projected height does not present an overhead contact problem when loading the aircraft. The load should not exceed 105 inches in overall height for C-130 and C-141 shipment. g. Tire pressure shall not exceed 100 psi, NOTE: THIS NOTICE WAS NOT POSTED TO FEDBIZOPPS ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (09-AUG-2006); HOWEVER, IT DID APPEAR IN THE FEDBIZOPPS FTP FEED ON THIS DATE.
