Description
In accordance with FAR subpart 13.106(b) (1) the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to issue a sole source purchase order to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Geneva, Switzerland in the amount of $70,000.00 to ensure that emerging infections, outbreaks of critical communicable diseases, and the occurrence of Influenza ?like symptoms are quickly detected in refugee camps located in Tanzania, Kenya, and potentially Ethiopia. CDC believes that UNHCR is the only organization that can meet the requirements of the order because only UNHCR has the level of experience and expertise working with health information in the refugee camps in Tanzania, Kenya, and Ethiopia. UNHCR serves as an umbrella organization for all of the health activities in the refugee camps in each country and has a comprehensive surveillance Health Information System currently in place. UNCHR has as its mandate the protection of refugees in camps and the responsibility for monitoring the health needs of these populations. Interested parties who feel that they possess the capabilities to satisfy this requirement should submit a capability statement demonstrating their abilities to meet this requirement. The information received in response to this notice will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement. Please send your documentation to Ronnie Francis at the office identified above, by fax (770) 488-2688 or by e-mail to efi8@cdc.gov. Documentation should be received within fifteen (15) days after the date of publication of this synopsis to be considered by CDC. A determination by the CDC not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within discretion of the government.
