- THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) ONLY. Space and Naval Warfare (SPAWAR) Systems Center San Diego is interested in identifying and acquiring information on currently available commercial off the shelf (COTS) and/or Non-Developmental Item (NDI) portable satellite communications systems. The goal is to find commercial solutions that could meet a wide variety of near-term Government communications requirements supporting activities such as military, homeland defense operations and disaster recovery operations. Responses may be used to develop contract requirements or specifications incorporating commercial terminals and/or services. The Navy is not interested in financing development, but rather in adopting commercial equipment and services anticipated to be available for general sale or lease from 2006 through 2012. SPAWAR Systems Center San Diego has issued this RFI solely for information and planning purposes - it does not constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP) or a promise to issue an RFP in the future. This request for information does not commit the government to contract for any supply or service whatsoever. Further, the Navy is not at this time seeking proposals and will not accept unsolicited proposals. Please see the attachment for more details and submission instructions.
