Description
DESCRIPTION The Conference of National Armaments Directors (CNAD) is the senior NATO body responsible for promoting cooperation in research and development of technology in support of production and procurement of defense equipment among NATO nations. The CNAD is comprised of the most senior defense procurement officials from all NATO countries. Twice a year the CNAD meets at NATO Headquarters in Brussels to discuss investment in military capabilities. During the CNAD meeting on October 25-26, 2006, the NATO Defense Investment Division will host an industrial exhibition. It will give the representatives of a selected group of companies and research establishments from NATO countries and Partnership for Peace (PfP) countries the opportunity to exhibit their products, as well as research and technology developments. Because it will be held at NATO Headquarters, the exhibition will draw the attention of senior military and diplomatic officials located in Brussels, as well as the senior acquisition decision-makers from capitals who will be attending CNAD. The available space in the Headquarters is limited and therefore the organizers will have to be highly selective. They will strive for a mix of technologies to be shown, giving priority to exhibits that are interactive in nature. They will be looking for both large and small companies and research institutes to be represented, from as many of the NATO and PfP Partner nations as possible. Exhibitors should note that this exhibit will be open to the general NATO and Partner community and will be in a non-restricted area within NATO Headquarters. The focus will be on technologies and equipment for Special Operations Forces (SOF). Participation in this event is generally free of charge, i.e., no entrance fee will be requested by NATO. However, NATO will only cover local operating costs (light, heat, electricity). All other expenses (transportation of the equipment to the exhibition site at NATO Headquarters, insurance, setting up the equipment, manning the booth, etc.) will be the responsibility of the exhibitors themselves. ELIGIBLITY Requests for participation sent directly to NATO cannot be considered. If your firm would like to apply for participation in this exhibition, you must first complete a Questionnaire that will be provided by the U.S. Department of Commerce. To request a copy of the CNAD Questionnaire, send an email to Lcarpent@bis.doc.gov or Dnewsom@bis.doc.gov. The completed Questionnaire must be submitted to the CNAD Exhibition Team no later than 5 September 2006. Instructions for submission will be included with the Questionnaire. Also included will be information on SOFs and their associated requirements. The selection of exhibitors will be completed by 11 September 2006. NATO CNAD will inform all applicants, whether selected or not, about the results of the selection process. A handbook that will assist in the set-up for and conduct of the event, will then be sent to the selected exhibitors.
