Description

This project consists of general upgrades to the water system at Lava Lands Visitor Center. It includes demolishing and disposing of the obsolete centrifugal booster pumps and other miscellaneous water piping and appurtenances within the pumphouse, as well as demolishing the existing 20,000 gallon, underground concrete storage tank. Work also includes well head modifications, removal and replacement of the submersible well pump, supply and installation of related electric power and control upgrades, a new 4-inch distribution waterline, and one hydrant faucet. Work also includes replacing a floor drain disposal sump. The existing pumphouse requires new double door installation and some concrete work for routing pipelines and conduits. The existing hydropneumatic tank will remain in place and will be reused. Contract work shall commence around the tank and measures will be taken to preserve the integrity of the equipment to remain. Construction work will include clearing, excavation, RV dump station tank pumping, backfill, grading and pavement and surface restorations. This project will be competed under the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration project and will be competed full & open to both large and small businesses. Work is estimated to commence by the end of September 2006 with a completion date 120 days later.
