- The purpose of this notice is to issue solicitation number BEP-06-0019. Please note the uploaded attachments to this solicitation. The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP), Western Currency Facility (WCF), located at 9000 Blue Mound Road, Fort Worth, Texas, has a need to procure for a materials handling solution in the COPE section. The successful Contractor will be tasked with providing a commercially available system which will automatically transfer currency bricks from the discharge end of the COPE presses and stack them in the proper numerical sequence for packing and shipping in the Cash Pack section. The Contractor will be required to provide a system taking into consideration space constraints, equipment function, layout, power requirements and anticipated equipment output. The equipment will also have the capability of being modified by BEP personnel to suit changing process requirements. It is highly recommended that the Contractor make a site visit in order to properly address these requirements. Under this contract, the Contractor shall provide labor, materials, fabrication, assembly, delivery, installation, testing, training and all other efforts necessary for a turn key operation in the manufacture of a COPE Robotic Automation Device solution (including Labor & Materials, Engineering services, hardware and software) to automate the staking and labeling process inside the Currency Overprinting and Processing Equipment Section (COPES) in accordance with Section C of this document, for the Western Currency Facility (WCF) in Fort Worth, Texas. The procurement and installation of this equipment is intended to be a research and development prototype to aid and enable the COPE Section to operate in a more efficient manner, and will establish a basis to aid BEP in making the decision to pursue the acquisition of additional equipment to automate the entire COPE section in both of its currency manufacturing facilities in Washington DC and Forth Worth, TX. The Government anticipates awarding a Firm-Fixed Price contract for a base period and reserves the express right and privilege to exercise the option to procure several additional system from the same successful (contractor) bidder if it is deemed to be in the best interest of the BEP to extend stacking and labeling automation throughout the entire COPE Section without any further solicitation when additional systems (options) are needed and exercised.
