Description
The Marine Corps Systems Command, Program Manager for Training Systems (PM TRASYS), intends to procure Vehicle Maintenance Training Devices (VMTDs) for the Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement (MTVR) heavy duty (7 ton) truck. The VMTDs shall provide maintenance training for the truck subsystems via mechanical (hands-on) and simulation (virtual) trainers. VMTDs shall provide maintenance training for the following types of MTVR subsystems: diesel engine, drive train, brake system, steering and suspension, air conditioning, compressed air/central tire inflation system, unit remove and replacement for the engine and transmission, wheel and hub, and hydraulics. Simulation (i.e., virtual) trainers shall be used for the diesel engine, drive train, compressed air/central tire inflation system, and unit remove and replacement of engine and transmission subsystems. Mechanical (i.e, hands-on) trainers shall be used for the brake system, steering and suspension, air conditioning, and hydraulics subsystems. The government intends to procure the diesel engine, drive train, brake system, steering and suspension, and air conditioning trainers initially and include contract options for procurement of the compressed air/central tire inflation system, unit remove and replacement for the engine and transmission, wheel and hub, and hydraulics trainers. The trainer quantities are anticipated as 7 for the brake system, 10 for steering and suspension, 10 for air conditioning, 80 (computers or computer based) for the engine and drive train, 40 (computers or computer based) for the compressed air/central tire inflation system and unit remove and replacement for engine and transmission, 7 for wheel and hub, and 10 for the hydraulic trainers. The VMTDs shall provide the high level tasks listed below: Engine: Perform maintenance on diesel engine lubrication system, fuel system, air induction system, exhaust system, cooling system, battery system, starting system, charging system, wiring/lighting system, cold starting aid system, vehicle automated diagnostic system (VADS), Test Interface Module/Message Information Center (TIM/MIC), and electrical system. There are approximately 95 subtasks for the high level tasks identified above. Drive Train: Perform maintenance on propeller shaft system (12 subtasks). Brake System: Perform maintenance on brake system (23 subtasks). Steering and Suspension: Perform maintenance on steering and suspension (19 subtasks). Air Conditioning: To be provided Compressed Air/Central Tire Inflation System. Perform maintenance on the compressed air system (12 subtasks), tire and wheel assembly (9 subtasks). Unit Remove and Replacement of engine and drive train: Perform maintenance on diesel engine (4 subtasks), engine and transmission (4 subtasks), transmission and transfer case (16 subtasks) Wheel and Hub: Perform maintenance on the wheel and hub (3 subtasks). Hydraulics: To be provided. The VMTDs shall be utilized at the USMC formal learning center, Camp Johnson, North Carolina. The VMTDs shall teach mechanical skills and maintenance, removal and replacement of components, troubleshooting to find faulty components, diagnostic procedures, and shall demonstrate system operation and performance. Drawings for the vehicle subsystems are limited, but the actual vehicle and vehicle components will be available and can be used to assist in the development (i.e., pictures can be taken of the subsystems, subsystem components, removal/replacement of components if needed) of the simulated (virtual) and mechanical (hands-on) trainers. The government?s intent is to release a Request for Proposal (RFP) at the end of July 2006 and award a contract in September 2006.
