Description
The U.S. Army, RDECOM-ARDEC is seeking small business sources for procurement of a collapsible buttstock for the M240B Medium Machine Gun as designed by the Government. This is purely a fabrication effort as all of the research and development of the design has already been performed by the Government. The collapsible buttstock assembly replaces the standard buttstock of the M240 Machine Gun. The collapsible buttstock contains the same hydraulic buffer as the standard buttstock and is adjustable in length (to over three inches). The buffer housing assembly is very similar to the standard buttstock but with a few modifications. Users can reduce the length of the buttstock to make the weapon more ergonomic especially when wearing body armor and in close quarter combat situations. The item is envisioned to be mostly Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machine fabricated. It also requires molded plastic parts. The materials to be used in fabrication include but are not limited to: 304 and 631 series Stainless Steel; 7068-T6511 Aluminum Alloy; 1137-1144 Carbon Steels; Spring Steel; 4140 or 4340 Steel Alloy; A354,A355, A3576, A357, A380 or A384 Aluminum; and Dupont Plastic. Various final surface protective finishes are required for these materials. The final assembly shall have a protective finish lusterless black in color. No deviations to the drawing materials, treatment, or finish will be permitted. The contractor shall fabricate the item in accordance with U.S.G. drawings, inspect them in accordance with U.S.G. Quality Assurance Provisions (QAP), and package them in accordance with U.S.G. Special Packaging Instructions (SPI). The contractor must be able to sustain a delivery schedule of 250 ??? 500 Collapsible Buttstock Assemblies per month with a potential to increase production and delivery to 1200 Buttstocks per month. There will be a First Article Test quantity and requirement to pass First Article prior to approval for full production. All information is to be submitted at no cost or obligation to the Government. Please include company name, address, telephone number, technical point of contact, brochures/literature. This is only a Market Survey, not a pre- solicitation notice. If a formal solicitation is generated at a later date, a solicitation notice will be published. All information should be sent to: U.S. Army ARDEC, ATTN: David Drag, Contract Specialist, U.S. Army TACOM, Picatinny Center for Contracting and Commerce, AMSTA-AQ-APD, Building 10, Picatinny, NJ 07806-5000. EMAIL: david.drag@pica.army.mil. NO TELEPHONE INQUIRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED. Documentation provided will not be returned. This is a sources sought notice. It is for planning purposes only and should not be construed as a Request for Proposal or a commitment by the United States Government.
