Description
The Marine Corps Systems Command is seeking potential commercial sources to fabricate, test and deliver a Linear Demolition Charge System (LDCS) for the Assault Breacher Vehicle (ABV). The ABV is being developed and fielded by the Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC), which is responsible for the acquisition of weapons and equipment for the United States Marine Corps (USMC). The ABV is a tracked, combat engineer vehicle designed to breach complex obstacles and mine fields. It is based on the M1A1 tank chassis and incorporates several commercial subsystems to accomplish specific breaching requirements. The ABV is an Acquisition Category III (ACAT-III), Marine Corps program and is currently preparing for Initial Operational Test and Evaluation (IOT&E). The LDCS consists of all the hardware required to employ two Mk 58 Line Charge Systems with A4 fuse assemblies and two Mk 22 Rockets as part of complex breaching operations. The LDCS is installed on the rear portion of the turret of the ABV and receives electrical power from the host vehicle. It consists of two launcher assemblies (frame, rocket rail, and electrical components), one control box, one local/remote switch box, one Linear Demolition Charge (LDC) selector switch box (which switches between the port and starboard launchers), and all the interconnecting cables. It provides the functionality that enables the vehicle commander, while under cover of armor, to select the port or starboard launcher, raise the rocket rail to the firing position, launch the rocket, and detonate the line charge once it has been deployed by the rocket. The LDCS contains an interface for a separate remote control system, which can be used when the vehicle is operated in an unmanned mode. The following available documents provide the technical drawings and interface diagram for the LDCS. 1. LDCS Technical Data Package 2. LDCS Control System Requirements, July 8, 2005 3.
