Description
- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District is soliciting prospective contractors for the Maintenance Dredging of Salem Harbor, Massachusetts. The work involves dredging of approximately 175,000 cubic yards of sandy-silty material from the 32-foot deep Mean Lower Low Water (MLLW) authorized main ship channel and the 10-foot and 8-foot shallow draft channels and basin at Derby Wharf and the entrance to the South River. The 3.4 mile long main ship channel is authorized for a width of 300 feet, and widens at the bends and in the inner approach to the State Turning Basin at the wharves. The 8-foot branch channel and 8-foot by 3.2-acre anchorage basin east of Derby Wharf may also be dredged as part of this work, subject to contr act options. The material will be placed in open water at the Massachusetts Bay disposal site. Dredging would be by mechanical bucket dredge with the material transported in bottom dump scows. Dredging is restricted to the period of 1 September through 15 February. All work must be completed within one dredging season.
