- In accordance with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Acquisition Management System (AMS) paragraph 3.2.2.4, the purpose of this announcement is to inform the industry of the basis for the FAA's decision to contract with a selected source via single source procedures. The FAA has a requirement to develop a simulator of an advanced commercial transport aircraft to support FAA system development. The FAA has chosen the Embraer 170/175 as the aircraft to simulate. The FAA intends to purchase an aircraft throttle module assembly for the Embraer 170/175 aircraft from Rockwell International Electromachanical Systems Group. Rockwell has developed an innovative design that holds several patents on the design and also maintains exclusive right on the intellectual property. A competitive solicitation is unavailable for this effort.
