Description
SCOPE OF WORK EXIT LIGHTS, EMERGENCY LIGHTS, SMOKE DETECTOR, DUCT DETECTORS, SHUNT TRIP, EXHAUST SYSTEM AND WIRING. The intent of this scope of work is to provide construction services for the above mention in several locations on the center as per the following scope of work, specifications and instructions. A: Item# 60321 Exit Light Main Corridor Main Bldg. 1. The exit light in the main corridor does not provide direction in the intended egress path. 2. The contractor shall supply and install a new light emitting diode (LED) type exit sign in the main corridor. 3. The exit sign shall comply with NEC and NFPA 101 code requirements and have long-life battery backup, test switch and indicator light. B: Item# 60325 Smoke Detector LRC Room. 1. The LAN hub closet located in the LRC Room is not provided with smoke detection. 2. The contractor shall supply and install one photo-electric type smoke detector in the LAN closet. 3. The contractor shall connect the new detector to the building fire alarm system. 4. The contractor shall install all wiring in ?? EMT conduit. C: Item# 60334 Exit Light Carroll and Freedom Hall. 1. The exit lights in the corridors on Carroll and Freedom Hall does not provide direction in the intended egress path. 2. The contractor shall supply and install two new light emitting diode (LED) type exit signs in the corridors. 3. The exit sign shall comply with NEC and NFPA 101 code requirements and have long-life battery backup, test switch and indicator light. D: Item# 60450 Duct Smoke Detectors 4th Floor Air Handlers. 1. The 4th floor air handlers systems with supply air capacities greater than 2,000 CFM have no duct mounted smoke detectors. (NFPA 90A, 2006, 6.4.2.1) 2. The contractor shall supply and install two duct mounted smoke detectors in the supply air duct for each unit. 3. The contractor shall wire the output of the smoke detectors to shutdown their respective fan upon detection of smoke. 4. The contractor shall provide connection to the fire alarm control panel in ?? EMT conduit. E: Item# 60451 Emergency Lights Social Development Area. 1. The emergency light heads located in the center section of the second floor are disconnected and cannot be repaired. 2. The contractor shall supply and install two new dual head wall pack emergency light fixtures and wire to existing lighting system. 3. These fixtures are required to provide illumination of the means of egress. (NFPA 101, 2003, 7.9.2.2). F: Item# 60453 Emergency Lights Main Hallway Main Bldg. 1. The placement of the emergency lighting fixtures at the outside exits on the east and west sides of the building do not provide the code required of 1 foot candle average and 0.1 foot candle minimum for the egress path (NFPE 101. 2003, 15.2.9.1 and 7.9.2.1) 2. The contractor shall supply and install weatherproof emergency lights with separate inside battery pack units at each of the six exits of the building. Locate the lights and aim the heads to illuminate the egress providing code required illumination levels. 3. The emergency lights shall comply with NEC and NFPA 101 code. And have long life battery backup, test switches and indicator lights. 4. The contractor shall connect the emergency lights to the nearest lighting circuit serving the same respective areas. G: Item#60362 Kitchen Hood Culinary Arts. 1. The fire suppression system in Culinary Arts does not have shut down power to the electric cooking equipment under the hood prior to discharge. (NFPA 96, 2004, 10.4.1). 2. The contractor shall disconnect all cooking equipment under the hood from the existing panel and reconnect them to a new shunt-trip panel 3. The new panel?s shunt-trip main circuit breaker is to automatically disconnect electrical power to cooking equipment under kitchen hood prior to discharging of the fire suppression system. H: Item# 60372 Paint Storage Room. 1. The flammable storage room has wire and conduit system which are not rated for use in the hazardous location.(NEC, 2005, 501). 2. The contractor shall supply and install all wiring for the lighting is to comply with specific hazardous classification code requirements. I: Item# 60198 Paint Shop Exhaust System. 1. There is no mechanical exhaust provided from the room where painting is done. 2. The contractor shall supply and install a 500 CFM wall mounted exhaust fan suitable for Class 1, Division 1 Group D and Class 2. Provide a 12? by 12? barometrically operated relief air damper with bird screen in an exterior wall. 3. The contractor shall energize from nearest panel with available circuits. 4. The contractor shall provide start-stop control with lockout provisions. J: Item# 60395 BAM Shop Exit Light. 1. The BAM Shop exit light does not adequately provide direction to the intended egress path. 2. The contractor shall supply and install a new light emitting diode (LED) type exit light. The exit light shall comply with NEC and NFPA 101 code. 3. The exit light shall have long life battery backup, test switch and indicator light. Connect the new light to the existing lighting circuit. K: Item# 60409 GYM Emergency Lights. 1. The centralized wet cell inverter type emergency egress lighting system located in the Electrical room is beyond its useful life. 2. The contractor shall supply and install three dual head wall pack emergency light fixtures located in illuminate the means of egress within the GYM.(NFPA 101, 2003, 7.9.2.2). 3. The contractor shall include rigid wiregruards for the fixtures. L: Item# 60410 GYM Lighting Fixtures. 1. The high intensity discharge (HID) fixtures in the GYM lack a quartz restrike feature. 2. The contractor shall supply and install three energy efficient 4?, 2 lamp fluorescent strip fixtures with T8 lamps and suitable rigid wire or vandal proof guards at the three exits.(NEC, 2005, 700.16). M: Demolition/Removal. 1. The contractor shall verify location and extent of demolition required to accomplish the work. 2. Construction debris must be removed from the site and construction area must be secured to the centers satisfaction at the end of each workday. N: Rules. 1. The contractor shall at all times abide by the centers rules and regulations. 2. The contractor must meet the Davis Bacon Act Wage Requirements. 3. All electrical work shall be installed in accordance with the NEC and NETA requirements. O: Warranty. 1. All materials, services and labor shall be warranted free for a period of one year. P: Bid Requirement. 1. The contractor shall submit their bid in a Labor cost and Material cost format. Please note that a walk-through will be conducted on August 1st 2006 @ 10:am.
