- U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) intends to procure a powder x-ray diffractometer at the CBP facility in Houston, TX. Some of the minimum requirements are as follows: (1) enclosures that prevent exposures from x-rays and meet all local, state and federal requirements, (2) sample holders capable of holding a variety of samples, (3) x-ray tube with a copper anode with ceramic insulation, (4) software capable of resolving searches of single and mixed/complex phases, (5) training and (6) technical assistance. This information as well as all other necessary information will be included in a Statement of Work (SOW) that will be disseminated in a Request for Proposals (RFP). The resultant order will be a one-time buy for the complete system and its installation and implementation. The RFP will be issued on or about 28 July 2006.
