- The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) intends to award on a sole source basis, under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (Dollar Threshold of $100,000) a firm fixed price award to Verispan, 800 Township Line Road, Yardley, Pennsylvania 19067-4200 for Independent Data on Retail Unit Prescription Drug Prices to Support the Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey (MCBS). CMS requires data to support the development of U.S. expenditure estimates for prescription in the Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey. This is a specific task that requires experience collecting and reporting retail prescription sales and volume by various types of payers. Verispan has experience in preparing this data in previous years and experience working with the CMS staff using these data. Whereas other such contractors could provide some degree of usefulness in accomplishing this purchase, the government would be paying for front-end familiarization time, which would increase the total cost of this purchase substantially. The contractor will provide CMS a file with the number of prescription filled in retail pharmacies, the number of units dispensed, and the dollar volume for each 11-digit NDC associated with the brand and generic formulation of the drugs, distinguishing among the following categories of payers: (1) cash-paying (2) Medicare Part D, (3) Medicaid, and (4) other third parties. All responsible sources may submit capability statements in consideration to the Agency at the above address.
