- The USGS intends to award a sole-source purchase order to the International Association of Seismology and Physics of the Earth's Interior at the University of Trieste in Italy for the following services: collection and scanning of analog seismograms of selected Caribbean earthquakes mostly from 1905-1985. The work will be divided into two parts. In the first part, approximately 2000 seismograms on microfilms will be collected, scanned, annotated, and delivered as computer image files on DVDs within six months of order issuance. In the second part, approximately 1000 selected seismograms on paper from several critical seismographic stations for studying Caribbean earthquakes will be collected, scanned, annotated and delivered as computer image files on DVDs within one year after receiving the PO as the second part of the work. Stations that seismograms will be collected from include installations in Puerto Rico, Arizona, Massachusetts, the Netherlands, Mexico, Bolivia, Hawaii, Columbia and Argentina. The proposed contract action is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation 6.302. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals, but interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement to the Contracting Officer (rdonez@usgs.gov) no later than the response date shown in this announcement.
