- Dry Soda Lookout is a 45 foot high fire detection lookout built in the 1960s. This project requires the repairs, retrofit, and painting the lookout catwalk and access hatch and re-roofing the lookout cab. The Contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, supervision, transportation, materials, inspections and incidentals necessary to accomplish specified work. This work includes, but is not limited to (1) removing and replacing existing handrails and posts to meet OSHA requirements, an estimated 196 square feet of catwalk decking, structural fascia, stair headers, stair access hatch and handrails, (2) installing new swinging gates which block access to stairways when access hatch is open, (3) preparing and painting new and replaced items and (4) an option item of re-roofing the lookout cab. All work shall be in compliance with OSHA requirements, including but not limited to fall protection and lead based paint requirements. The solicitation will be posted into FedBizOpps on or about August 02, 2006. Dry Soda Lookout is located south and east of John Day, OR on the Malheur National Forests approximately 30 miles.
