- Description
- The Office of Inspector General (OIG) is seeking information regarding a search engine capable of crawling our Apache web server based Intranet site. The solution must provide the ability to search a variety of document formats, Microsoft, HTML, PDF, etc., and to exclude areas from being searched as needed. The hardware device must be owned and managed by the OIG with no external interfaces being required. The solution should provide a plug and play, appliance-based web search engine solution to be installed and implemented by IT support staff possessing general IT skills, but lacking specialized web development expertise. It should have an administrative management console or interface providing search and results page creation capability that can be customized to accommodate OIG needs. The search engine should be tailored for a small sized web server containing about 20,000 documents, scaleable up to at least 100,000 documents and able to ?crawl? and index most common files types posted to websites. The Appliance must be capable of serving results to 450 internal OIG users. Appliance shall be rack mountable, complete with all mounting hardware. Please include estimated cost as part of our market research. The capability statements shall not be more than fifteen (15) pages, on 8.5 x 11 paper, with 1 inch margins and a 12 point, commonly used font such as, Courier or Times Roman in length. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION ANNOUNCEMENT FOR PROPOSALS AND NO CONTRACT WILL BE AWARDED FROM THIS ANNOUNCEMENT. NO REIMBURSEMENT WILL BE MADE FOR ANY COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH PROVIDING INFORMATION IN RESPONSE TO THIS ANNOUNCEMENT AND ANY FOLLOW-UP INFORMATION REQUESTS. RESPONDENTS WILL NOT BE NOTIFIED OF THE RESULTS OF THE EVALUATION. RESPONSES SHALL INCLUDE ESTIMATE COST.
