Description

The U.S. Geological Survey, Geologic Discipline, Energy Resources Team intends to make an award to SpectrAlliance, Inc., St. Lois, MO to provide a photomultiplier-based spectrometer system, including installation and training. The system shall include a tungsten lamp for backward aperture illumination, optical fibers for connection to the microscope, electric filter wheel with shutter and one free filter position, decoupling optics optimized for coal analysis with 546 nm interference filter and adjustable aperture installed, adaptation components for assembly to Leica microscope, ocular micrometer and net micrometer (12.5 x 12.5 5, 10, d=26mm), control and analysis unit (PC with 17" TFT display, interface card, software for measurement, control in fluorescence and reflection, manual selection of measuring area, data evaluation is histograms, and a YAG measurement stand. Government furnished property will include Leica microscope upon which the contractor will install the system. It is believed that SpectrAlliance, Inc is the sole possessor of system and component knowledge necessary to implement a diode array spectrometer system solution to our existing microscope system. THIS NOTICE IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. Information will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Determination to compete this requirement is solely within the discretion of the Government. Responses to this notice must be submitted via e-mail to: mfritts@usgs.gov by 07/21/2006. No additional synopsis will be published. See Numbered Note 22.
