- The Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), Indian Head, MD intends to award a Sole Source Purchase Order to TA Instruments-Water, LLC for the purchase of Differential Scanning Calorimeter(DSC) and its accessories. The Differential Scanning Calorimeter(DSC) with its accessories is manufactured by TA Instruments and is used to analyze explosives and gun propellants for their thermal decomposition temperatures. It also calculates the different kinetic energy given off by explosives and to perform various compatibility test with inert materials and explosives. TA DSCs have the ability to view real-time during an experiment. It can also view the heat flow, total heat capacity, kinetic heat flow and modulated temperature during real time. This piece of analytical equipment is compatible with older TA Differential Scanning Carolimeter(DSC) that NSWC Indian Head use at the present time.
