- The Palm Beach Harbor maintenance dredging will consist of dredging approximately 100,000 cubic yards of material from the entrance channel and settling basins, cut 1 and cut 2, and the north and south turning basins. This contract will be a rental c ontract for Hopper Dredges with 100% beach placement. All dredged material will be placed in the Palm Beach Disposal Area, which is located adjacent to the south jetty and extends southerly approximately 3,130 feet. Work will also include turbidity monito ring and endangered species observer/monitoring. The Contractor is advised that work under this contract will be conducted during the winter season (December through March) and wave conditions of three feet or higher may be expected. The Contractor shall furnish plant and equipment that can accomplish work within the time specified under the expected wave conditions. Project depth will vary from 24 feet to 37 feet with allowable overdepths from 1 foot to 2 feet. All dredge material is anticipated to be beach quality. Material placed in the Palm Beach Disposal area should begin approximately 250 feet south of the existing sand transfer plant outfall location and proceed south. Contractor will be required to perform a pre fill survey of the beach disposa l area for the contracting officer to determine the exact limits of beach disposal fill placement. In accordance with the Safety Management Action Plan (SMAP) for Palm Beach Harbor, this work is restricted to HOPPER DREDGES and COAST GUARD CERTIFICATION O F VESSELS IS REQUIRED. Magnitude of construction for is between $1,000,000.00 and $5,000,000.00. The solicitation will be issued on or after 26 July 2006 with bids due on or after 29 August 2006.
