- THORLABS OPTICAL EQUIPMENT The solicitation number is FA8601-06-T-0118. The proposed contract is for the purchase of optical testing equipment and mounting hardware, which the government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1. The proposed source is Newport Corporation. The supplies being purchased are as follows: three (3) one inch diameter 2-axis (1310 nanometer ? 1550 nanometer) fast steering mirrors. The government anticipates a sole source award to Newport Corporation for the following reason: the mirrors required for this effort must be of the same wavelength as the other equipment being purchased from vendors in order to provide the proper characteristics of the project. Without these mirrors to assist in the development of the desired outcome, the project cannot start, let alone be completed. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within eight (8) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Any quotation/response should be faxed to Robin M.
