- SUBJECT: NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE SOURCE PROCUREMENT DESC: Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, it is the Government's intent to award a sole source to Inline Corporation, 45925 Maries Road, Dulles, VA 20166 for annual software maintenance (ex tended warranty on ILW-Platinum Warranty Plan) for software located at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, Annex Building 101, 2nd Floor, 1413 Research Blvd., Rockville, MD 20850. The Armed Forces Medical Examiner System (AFMES) uses a centralized sto rage system called a Storage Area Network (SAN) which was designed, developed and purchased from Inline Corporation. The system is used for all the AFMES data storage needs as well as its infrastructure for data backup and disaster recovery. Given the mi litarily relevant mission of the AFMES and the current global war on terrorism the AFMES computer systems are required to have 100% up time. It is imperative that all service and technical support is provided by Manufacturer trained and certified technica l support personnel. The Inline Corporation warranty extension is necessary for the AFMES to meet this mission requirement which is currently only provided through Inline. This is not a formal solicitation. This synopsis is not considered a Request for Quo tation or Proposal. No solicitation document is available and telephone requests will not be honored. No contract will be awarded on the basis of offers received in response to this notice. Any response to this notice must show clear and convincing evidenc e that competition would be advantageous to the Government. If no affirmative written response is received, the service will be awarded without further notice. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
