- The U.S. Army TACOM- Picatinny Arsenal, NJ has a requirement for a mobile, touch probe type, coordinate measuring machine (CMM) that will operate in a shop floor environment (ie have thermal compensation built in). Once programming is complete, the machine has to be able to automatically inspect the physical dimensions of components after the operator fixtures the components and starts the machine. The machine must have at least a 20??? (X) x 36??? (Y) x 16??? (Z) volumetric workspace. It also must be able to articulate the probe head and inspect along three axis. The machine needs to hold .001" volumetric accuracy. The machine must also be on casters, so it can be easily moved.
