- The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), plans to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP No. AG-3A94-S-06-0035) for specialized shipping containers. This acquisition is set-aside for competition restricted to small business concerns and will be conducted in accordance with FAR Part 12 Acquisition of Commercial Items. The specialized shipping containers are used to ship samples from meat, poultry, egg, and other slaughtering or processing plants to FSIS technical support laboratories located in Athens, Georgia, St. Louis, Missouri, and Alameda, California which provide microbiological, chemical, pathological and other scientific examination of meat, poultry, and egg products for disease, infection contamination, or other types of adulteration. It is anticipated that a single award firm-fixed-price type contract will be awarded. The period of performance will be for one base year with four one-year option periods. The Government will award a contract to the lowest price-technically acceptable, responsible offeror. The applicable North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 322211, Corrugated and Solid Fiber Box Manufacturing, and the small business size standard is 500 employees. All responsible sources which meet this size criteria may submit a proposal which shall be considered by the agency. The offers must conform to the RFP instructions and be received by the closing date and time specified in the RFP. The anticipated release date of the RFP is on or about July 10, 2006. The firm date and time for receipt of offers will be stated in the RFP. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.
