Description
Description: The US Army Research, Development and Engineering Command ??? Armament Research Development and Engineering Center (RDECOM-ARDEC), Picatinny Arsenal, NJ is conducting a market survey to identify sources to develop a High Power Microwave (HPM) payload ( Prime Power, Power Conditioning, HPM source, and Antenna) for use with Non-Line-of-Sight ??? Cannon (NLOS-Cannon), NLOS Mortar and/or the Mounted Combat Systems (MCS) Vehicle. The system must also be compatible with legacy (indirect and/or direct) fire weapon systems. The HPM payload must be properly designed to defeat significant targets on the battlefield, be gun hardened, munitionized, etc. The payload system must: 1. Have the ability to effect materiel targets of opportunity with no collateral damage to personnel (objective) or limited, less than lethal, collateral damage to personnel (threshold) as compared to high explosive munitions. 2. Survive the high-g environment of gun launch and function properly (up to 40,000 g???s objective with a threshold of 20,000 g???s). 3. Adapt to typical 155mm (Artillery) and 120mm (Tank, Mortar) Projectile interior Dimensions. 4. Operate in relevant environment (-600 F to +1450 F). 5. Require no maintenance during storage. The offeror must possess the technical capability to complete the necessary development of this materiel including requisite engineering staff, laboratory equipment and expertise to satisfy the US Government requirements. All technical data will be marked with limited distribution and dissemination only as directed by the ARDEC Engineering team or higher authority. However, all information provided to the Government at this time shall be unclassified. Firms with the experience in the areas cited above should provide a summary of their organization or company???s capabilities including a description of facilities, personnel and past experience to meet this requirement. Respondents are asked to provide a Rough Order of Magnitude cost Estimate for the anticipated effort as well. All responses must include company name, address, POC, phone number, fax number, and email address and are required by 31 July 2006. This is a sources sought notice for planning purposes only. This is not a solicitation and is not to be construed as a commitment by Government.
