Description

Military Sealift Command requires the following: In support of the Information Technology deployed throughout MSC both afloat and ashore, the Command operates a 24x365 Global Helpdesk (GHD). The current GHD software is no longer supported by the vendor and is not the Department of Navy approved helpdesk software. The Department of Navy has designated BMC Remedy as the approved trouble ticket processing software for the Navy and its components. MSC initiated a project to upgrade the current helpdesk software and deploy the software within the MCDC. In addition to the GHD, MSC also operates a Configuration Management Program to support the IT Operation, as well as a Federally mandated Asset Management Program. These activities are very tightly coupled and share much of the same data and processes. The analysis performed under the project determined that deploying a suite of BMC Remedy helpdesk software and supporting software would be the most effective and cost efficient way to meet the Governments need. The other BMC software components (Asset Management and Configuration Management) are registered with the Navy.
