- Mobile District intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Bellsouth Telecommunications, 2180 Lake Boulevard, Atlanta, Georgia 30319 to provide voice/data communications and equipment for the Mobile District Corps of Engineers pursuant to the a uthority under FAR 6.302. The service area consists of remote locations throughout Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia and Florida for various Corps offices located at parks, locks and dams and military installations. This service is currently under an A-76 Co mpetitive Study. The outcome of this study is imminent, and a change at this time would increase cost and the potential for an additional change once the new Service Provider begins service. Bellsouth has been providing these services to the field office locations for numerous years and to disrupt service with Bellsouth would impact the Corps by losing service in these remote locations, losing investments in equipment and installation costs and pose compatibility problems between current equipment and rep lacement equipment if another vendor were selected. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement and submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposal s received within 5 days after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract action based upon responses to this notice is soley within the discretion fo the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
