- NSWC Carderock Code 616 has been tasked by COMNAVAIRPAC to integrate Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) systems for Navy ships security surveys. An integral part of these systems is the ability of the vehicle to navigate a path parallel to a ship hull to search for foreign objects. Two additional vehicles are being built and fitted for this purpose. The Mecco Inc. PA-500 altimeter unit is the only manufacturer of acoustic altimeters which are compatible with the current vehicle configuration design, both in physical dimension and electronic interface. NSWCCD intends to negotiate a non-competitive procurement using Simplified Acquisition Procedures and award a firm-fixed price purchase order to MECCO, INC; for the purchase of twelve (12) each, PA-500 altimeter units. Award to any other source would result in a substantial duplication of cost and efforts to the Government that is not expected to be recovered through competition. All responsible sources submitting offers will be considered. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Interested parties may forward their capabilities statements to the Government POC on or before 7/04/2006.
