Description: This Pre-solicitation notice is in support of the Mix Oxide Fuel Facility being built at the Savannah River Site, Aiken, South Carolina by Duke COGEMA Stone & Webster, LLC. The Pellet Chamfer Measuring Device (CMD) is used in the pellet productioon process to verify that the edges on the pellets have been adequately ground (or chamfered) to remove fabrication burrs. The CMD is based on an optical analysis type system. A CCD camera NICAM (VHR 1000) and a laser beam are used for this measurement. THe pellet is manually placed on a V shape support. The laser beam illuminates one edge of the pellet and the CCD camera records the profile of the pellet shadow. Dedicated CMD software calculates the chamfer dimensions and angles.
