- The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) will issue a solicitation for the maintenance of a Rees Scientific alarm system. This system is installed in the Louis B. Stokes Research Facility, 50 South Drive, Bethesda, Maryland. The final contract award will provide all maintenance services and materials necessary to continue the functioning of the current alarm system operating in Building 50. The maintenance agreement will include software updates, probe replacements as needed and prompt responses to all repair calls. The contractor will be responsible for dispatching authorized service technicians to conduct the scheduled checks, updates and service calls. The alarm unit consists of a complex framework of more than 400 devices as well as accessories, probes and ancillary wiring that assists with monitoring capabilities for lab freezer temperatures throughout the building. The samples housed within these freezers are extremely heat sensitive, some of which are more than 50 years old and cannot be replaced. The successful proposal will demonstrate an in depth knowledge of the Rees System, as well as a proven track record of successful, consistent, maintenance of installed Rees Systems. The solicitation document will be released on or about July 03, 2006 with a response due date of July 20, 2006. The anticipated contract award date will be around August 11, 2006.
