Description
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) has a requirement to procure the services of Wayne State University and the Detroit Medical Center to establish fellowship training in maternal fetal medicine. The fellowship training will be a joint program with the Perinatology Research Branch (PRB) of NICHD and Wayne State University. Wayne State University is affiliated with the hospitals of the Detroit Medical Center, which includes Harper University Hospital. The PRB is located in Harper University Hospital. The fellowship has been approved by the American Board of Obstetrician and Gynecologist for a total of seven positions. The fellowship duration is three years during which the fellow is expected to receive post-graduate education, become proficient in the practice of the sub-specialty, conduct original research, and attend post-graduate courses required by the board, practice Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Detroit Medical Center. The fellows are intended to be Detroit Medical Center employees and their malpractice insurance covered by the hospital. The statement of work will provide more information. The Institute intends to obtain this service by other than full and open competition from Harper University Hospital. To the best of the Governments knowledge the proposed contractor is best suited to provide this service in the Detroit area as stated above. Interested vendors may identify in writing their interest with a capability statement to the Contracting Office prior to the closing date of this notice. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals, however; all responses received, before the closing date, of this announcement will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed acquisition is based upon responses to this notice and is solely within the discretion of the Government. It is anticipated that the Request for Quotation (RFQ) NIH-NIDDK-06-901 will be available fifteen (15) days after the publication date of this synopsis. Receipt of quotations will be due ten (10) days after the release of the RFQ. The anticipated award date is July 24, 2006.
