Description
The purpose of this amendment is to reestablish the response date to include the following questions and answers. Q1. For the purposes of clarification, please confirm that the terms Customer and Navy are one and the same. A1. Yes. Q2. Please confirm if the end wall panels shall consist of two flaps with 5 ft seams or a series of 5 ft wide flaps with grommets. A2. End panels need to be a series of 5 ft wide flaps with grommets. Q3. We notice the rail wheels are to be furnished with castors. Is this so the shelter can be rolled around off the rails? A3. The shelter only needs track rollers for the purpose of rolling back and forth for assembly. Q4. For anchoring purposes advise if the wheels shall be retractable. If not please advise if the wheel exposure height shall be included in the overall height of the structure. A4. Wheels do not need to be retractable, and as far as the wheel exposure height it can be included in the overall height to the structure. We have to have 45 ft height for clearance. Q5. Again for anchoring purposes please confirm type of anchor. We assume concrete expansion or epoxy anchors will be acceptable. A5. As far as anchoring NNSY can use keel blocks, cables & turnbuckles. Q6. When in use will the shelter ride on piers and straddle open water or will it be shore bound. A6. The shelter will not straddle open water, it will be totally on the pier. Q7. The faxed sketch appears to show two buildings nested over one another, with two pairs of rails. Does the building need to pass over or under an existing structure? It appears that the new building fits inside another building. A7. Shelter will be one section 60 ft long X 84 ft wide X 45 ft high. Q8. Are the 100 lb crane rail wheel and caster assembly fixed non-castering wheels, meant to only travel in a straight line? Will uplift and kickout forces be taken by these wheels and transferred into the rails? A8. Yes we only need to travel in a straight line, if we use 4 keel blocks one on each end and anchor the shelter after moving each time, I think this will take care of any up lift problem. Q9. How many foot candles in the lighting system? A9. A lighting system is not needed, NNSY will install temporary lighting. Q10. How fixed is the delivery date of July 1, 2006? We will meet the date if necessary but typically prefer 4 weeks to deliver. A10. The Project need date is July 17, 2006. Q11. The description indicates the gable end manufactured in 5 ft wide vertical strips with grommets on all sides. Do these panels need to fasten to one another or to the gable steelwork with rope? Do they want steel in the gable end walls? If so, does it need to be easily removable? A11. It is the projects desire that the ends be 5 ft wide vertical strips with grommets so that they can be easily tied to each side or easily removed in order to clear structure when moving the shelter back and forth.
